Standard Business Sponsorship Assistance
Hiring an overseas worker creates responsibilities for the business as well as an opportunity to fill a role. TILSAVV helps employers understand Standard Business Sponsorship and map the steps that follow, so recruitment decisions rest on a clear view of the process.

Separate the business, position and worker assessments
Standard Business Sponsorship concerns the organisation’s approval to sponsor under relevant visa programs. A nomination concerns the proposed position and associated requirements. The worker’s visa application concerns the applicant and visa criteria. Approval at one stage does not guarantee approval at another.
Before discussing a start date, assess all three areas. A business may be ready to sponsor while the position or worker still requires investigation.
Establish the correct business identity
Start with the entity that will employ the worker, its registration details, operating history, worksite and proposed role. Explain related entities and recent structural changes. The trading name on a shopfront may not identify the legal entity relevant to an application.
An initial brief can include registration information, an organisational overview, available financial and operational records, workforce details and previous sponsorship decisions. We identify what is relevant rather than treating every employer as the same.
Assess the proposed role before promising employment
We ask about duties, location, hours, remuneration, reporting lines and business need. The next assessment examines nomination and visa requirements relevant to the role. An occupation title or a worker’s interest in joining does not resolve these questions.
Salary, labour market testing and other nomination issues need current, program-specific checking. A single salary figure should not be assumed to apply to every sponsored position or remain unchanged indefinitely.
Understand ongoing sponsor obligations
Sponsorship is not simply an approval letter to file away. Employers need to understand applicable employment, record-keeping, monitoring and notification obligations. Which obligations apply, and for how long, must be checked for the arrangement.
We help identify immigration records and responsibilities to assign within the business. Employers remain responsible for their obligations and may need separate workplace or accounting advice.
A practical scope for employer assistance
TILSAVV can assess the proposed sponsorship pathway, review business information, explain evidence needs and assist with an application within the agreed scope. Nomination and worker visa services are discussed separately so you can see what is included.
Bring existing approval letters, government correspondence and details of an intended worker, if identified. We explain outstanding questions and provide a written scope and fee proposal. Home Affairs controls sponsorship and visa decisions.
Common questions
Does SBS approval let the worker start immediately?
Not by itself. The person needs appropriate work permission and must comply with visa conditions.
Is SBS the sponsorship used for a 407 Training visa?
The arrangements differ. A 407 proposal needs assessment against temporary activities sponsorship and training requirements.
Are government fees included in professional fees?
A written quote should distinguish professional fees, government charges and other third-party costs.
